High-Speed Optical CMM Offers Fast Blade Inspection

Turbine blade inspection can be challenging – the ability to inspect features, leading-edge surfaces, root geometry, and cooling holes is crucial. The new UMA Blade from 3D Infotech integrates a high precision blue laser line sensor, a high-speed 3D scanner with advanced optics to deliver superior data quality on micro-features and challenging material surfaces.

Designed for high-performance the built-in 3D line profiler achieves fast scan speeds of up to 10 kHz with 0.013 – 0.017 mm resolution. The UMA Blade offers a cylindrical measuring volume of 137 mm radius x 400 mm high.

The UMA High-Speed Optical CMM offers blade manufacturers an integrated solution to move from tactile probing to fast contactless inspection. UMA Blade, is a fast and accurate solution for aerospace and industrial gas turbines industries offering the ability to improve the inspection workflow during manufacturing or for maintenance, repair, and overhaul applications.

The UMA Blade CMM is driven by 3D Infotech’s Streamline software, an inspection automation software that offers an easy-to-use, error-proof experience for operators. Streamline manages all scan data while pushing it into PolyWorks|Inspector software automatically, making the whole process seamless offering powerful feature comparison and reporting tools for rapid results anaysis.

Compact Footprint

UMA Blade offers a compact footprint of only 900mm x 1225mm for location directly on the manufacturing floor. Other system features include:

  • Granite structure for consistent thermal stability
  • Field of view 25 – 32.5 mm
  • Sensor stand-off 47.5 mm
  • Built-in rugged computer
  • Flexible fixturing
  • Multiple-system data management
  • Seamless Polyworks integration
