Mobile Measuring Station Incorporates Collaborative Robot with Powerful 3D Scanner

With the GOM ScanCobot, GOM presents a mobile measuring station with a collaborative robot, motorized rotation table and powerful software. Combined with the compact and high-precision sensor ATOS Q, the complete system is predestined for automated 3D measurements. The ATOS Q, GOM’s compact outperformer, together with the GOM ScanCobot optimizes the fast execution of series measurements. All measuring results are reproducible and influences through user intervention are reduced.

The GOM ScanCobot is especially suited for efficient quality control of small and medium-sized parts made of plastic, metal or cast iron. The flexible ATOS Q with Triple Scan Principle, Blue Light Equalizer and precise calibration as a self-monitoring system with active temperature management can be optionally equipped with five interchangeable lenses. With these measuring areas from 100 x 70 mmto 500 x 370 mmcan be realized. Parts with a weight up to 50 kg, a diameter and a height up to 500 mm can be inspected automatically.

The mobile measuring system features the all-in-one evaluation software GOM Inspect Suite including virtual measuring room (VMR) and the Kiosk Interface. The software simultaneously handles measurement planning, digitization and inspection. The VMR represents the complete measurement environment and measuring procedure and executes it automatically. In the software, the CAD data set of the part to be inspected is imported together with the associated measurement plan. The necessary sensor positions and robot paths are computed fully automatically at the push of a button. The user does not need any knowledge about robotics programming.

The GOM ScanCobot with ATOS Q is particularly space-saving thanks to small dimensions of 975 mm x 755 mm and a working height of 1,000 mm. Thanks to installed wheels and a total weight of less than 200 kg, the system can be moved to the location where the next measuring task is waiting. The system can be equipped with a standardized safety housing to comply with market-specific safety regulations.
